This is a good time of year to gather ideas for next year’s writing! You don’t have to do any writing at this stage – although taking a few photos might be useful.
If you watch a film, look at how the storyline works. How is sound used to create tension and suspense? Are there recurring motifs that are significant? How do the characters speak and move? Is the film based on a book? Have you read it? If so, what has been changed or left out when the screenplay was created?
Think about Christmas memories. Play the ‘what if’ game. What if two characters remember an incident differently? What if something happens to cause an argument? What happens next?
What if an unexpected or unwanted guest turns up at Christmas?
Buy yourself a special notebook after Christmas and get scribbling. Have fun!
